Hi All,
I know this must be a question that crops up every os often but I've searched the archives and can't find anything specific to the S2 ( in the UK at least). Can anyone tell me which radio would have standard in the Elan S2 of March '66 vintage.
Thanks!

This Radiomobile is fitted into my early 67 S3, and I've seen them fitted into Mk 2 Jags & E Types of 65 / 66 / 67 vintage. They look the part, but sound dreadful by todays standards. With the hood down, exhaust and webbers roaring, you won't listen to it anyway...just looks better than a hole or a plain bit of dash.

My May 66 S3 has the same radio as the one of Mark.
And I agree with him as far as the "quality" of the sound is concerned But it looks nice.

My one problem is that distance keeps me from my Elan. (36/5395)

Firstly I'd check the ignition timing, then the mixture and if that fails you'll have to look at the compression and valve timing....You should be getting a little more than four horses.....

I was thinking of fitting the famous Becker Mexico Sterio cassette radio.
It looks about the same and has quite good sound qualities. (standard Mercedes and Porsche radio of that time) It accepts normal compact cassettes. And is quite available from "Historic radio" dealers
I'll look for a picture.
I just have to check if it fits...

Hmmmpffff....
You illiterate fools... )
I was just paraphrasing Chris Rea.
No one heard the song "Daytona"?
And as for my Lotus I think that the first thing should be getting it on a trailer from Sweden to the Netherlands.
Second is water pump and donuts... Common failures i guess...
Hope to have it running by autumn.
Maybe I should get the garage sorted out as well, having a nice place to work is a good idea I guess.

I prefer a Symphony of pistons and a Crescendo of tappets with a high tone note of exhaust to all that cultured stuff!.......so tell me Jens, do you actually vote in the X Factor or American Idol

American Idol or X-files? Nope...
Sadly I have lost the two most valuable records I have had.
When I was a kid I used to play "The sound of Speed" (LP) and a EP with the sound of a BRM V16... So I guess that my preferences are clear. But still, music that has a certain connection to cars and engines is appealing to me.
Didn't know Chris Rea was in the American Idol or the X-factor by the way...

Ahh Pete, if I had a supply of those radios I would make a fortune on eBay but anyway you would have to enlarge the hole in the dashboard to fit it in an ?lan.
Donington......Yes I will be going for a couple of hours(depending how bored my wife gets) as I am going up to Hull to trace my roots ( I was abducted into slavery and sent to Africa as a young man) maybe we can get together for a beer.....think I still have Brian's cell number but mine is 07742048536
