Distributor Cap & Silicone Leads

Hi all,
I have just purchased a new Distributor cap and in conjunction with this purchased some new silicone HT leads and subsequently removed the old leads and cut the new silicone leads and fitted these into the new dizzy top.
I have just read somewhere - 'Brian Bucklands' book that silicone leads have to have a unique dizzy top as the original caps are only suitable for copper cored leads.
I may have ruined a set of silicone leads- can anyone clarify or assist on this point please.
Thanks in advance for help.
Regards

I've been using a set of blue silicone leads for a couple of years. The only mod the the dissy cap was to drill larger holes so the leads would fit in properly.
It all works fine.
