What does an OEM Lotus Plus 2 do?

Surely this is a deliberate feature and probably mandated.

If you need the parking lights on because it's dark then you shouldn't extinguish them during the 'off'' phase of the hazard flasher. In Europe the parking lamps are on a separate circuit and bulb so your US feature aligns with it, leaving a vestige of light when the parking lamps are on.
