Electric window wiring

Thanks for all the responses. The problems I feared are not as bad as expected.

I have been talking with the guys from PJS Sportscars who professionally restore all Lotus' and supply parts etc. They restore several Elan and +2's every year and basically they stick to the standard harness but do ensure all earths are good and say they never get any problems.

Another question I had regarded what fuses to use as Lotus are notoriously coy, they say the standard 17 amp continuous, 35 amp peak rating fuses are good for all circuits.

So I will wind back on my initial plans and go fairly standard as several people suggested, but pay close attention to ensure good earthing, particularly from the window motors.

I have a related question if I may.

Could someone confirm that there is no actual limit switches on the motors. You just push the button until the window hits a physical stop, top and bottom? I can see the stalling of the motor at the top and bottom being the large current spikes.

Thanks, Darek

There is an over current switch in the motor. In effect, the stalling you tefer to.
