Evening Alan .
I have a set of air horns that I took off my Elan Sprint a number of years ago when I was restoring my car and never put them back on .
I keep planning on sorting my spares out to sell on.
Let me know if you are interested ie Give me a PM

I fitted a simple (cheap) horn also, wired in parallel to the air horns. So if I press & release the horn push for a brief period I get an in-town BEEP, but if I hold the button down longer, the air compressor lag is over and I get a 'motorway' air-horn BLAST!.

Forget compressors, they all eventually fail. I'm also not fond of that lag that softens the initial attack of air-horns. I used several Stebel-type (the same unit is available from many brands) horns on my motorbikes and they all eventually died. And being nearly invisible on two wheels I prefer not to mess around when it comes to signaling other motorists so my searching for the best horn led to the Hella Supertone, a dual-tone, 'muffin'-type horn. Much less in the way of moving parts to fail and no lag. A test done by WebBikeWorld.com found it to have the highest decibel-delivery of all the horns they tested, especially at a distance. It also has a nice dissonant sound that really gets your attention. I installed a set on my big badass BMW 'strumbahnfuhrer' motorbike and a blast from it will make the soccer-mom in the next lane drop her latte in her lap when she tries to take my lane on top of me. MUCH better than the Vespa-like 'meep meep' horn that the bike came with! I was so impressed that I fitted a set in the Plus 2 to replace the long-dead air horn setup. Adds lightness over the old equipment too!

Hmm...Thanks for the input. It is food for thought and always good to hear a different viewpoint!
However, having been a driver of sports cars in the 60's and 70's air horns are to me very synonymous with the cars of that era so I can't really see me deviating from that for my +2. :D
