I would as they tend to soak up brake fluid, then go brittle & fall apart.
If you go to the the thread mentioned above you can see there have been developments in material technologies over the last 50 years relevant to Sovys
or just replace it with new cork which may be good for an other 50 years...
that is what I've done, using a good wine so that the cork would be of good quality (solid cork, not of glued granulated cork), then taken out with a big hole using a 2 blade corkscrew sur as that one :

Just to add to the SOVY data base. Both the two inner and two outer screw/rivets can be successfully replaced by 1/2 inch x no.6 self tapping screws. They need to be slightly shortened for the inner application but perfect for the outer.
