I would as they tend to soak up brake fluid, then go brittle & fall apart.

If you go to the the thread mentioned above you can see there have been developments in material technologies over the last 50 years relevant to Sovys :roll:


or just replace it with new cork which may be good for an other 50 years...

that is what I've done, using a good wine so that the cork would be of good quality (solid cork, not of glued granulated cork), then taken out with a big hole using a 2 blade corkscrew sur as that one :

Just to add to the SOVY data base. Both the two inner and two outer screw/rivets can be successfully replaced by 1/2 inch x no.6 self tapping screws. They need to be slightly shortened for the inner application but perfect for the outer.
