Are you sure Radiomobile are shallow enough to fit ?
Hi Vernon, thanks for the advice, I think the Tunolock has a DIN socket.
will you come at Retromobile ?
Franck
There is no DIN socket on the back of the Turnolocks, at least not on my AM one. Not sure about the FM ones but they are quite rare anyway. Only connections are an aerial connector and the speaker lead sockets.
Anyone tried this?:

Colin,
There is probably more room on your S4 than in the +2, I have only 105 mm depth
Robbie,
This is a picture of the Turnolock's back I have (the one with a missing button!) and there is a socket that looks to be a DIN one
ref of the radio is 22RN511

Spridget,
My radio is a Pye Clearway. It came with the car when I bought it and looks original. I think it works but it just fills the hole in the dashboard. I also have a CD/Radio with an Aux input mounted under the glove box on the passenger side. I use that instead.
Dave.

Lucky man Franck! Looks like you have the FM version. I didn't know they had a DIn socket too. AM model number is RN314

Robbie, I used something similar to this (for a time) to connect Sirius Satellite Radio and/or iPod to a Kenwood head unit in my BMW. The unit I used was supplied (I think) under the Sirius brand name; hadn't seen the brand name you found. The system worked quite well. The sound quality is similar to FM radio, which you would expect as it is going thru the antenna lead and FM tuner. It is much better than the cordless type deals that send an FM signal to the radio antenna. Pretty sure the AM version would be pretty limited in sound quality. However, if just using the stock vintage radio and the pretty weak stock speaker locations it would work, sorta. Also note you need separate wiring to charge the iPod.
I ended up replacing it with a Kenwood expansion box that allows direct audio input to the head unit. The sound quality is much better.
For the Plus 2 I ended up using a modern radio; the Kenwood Single DIN wouldn't fit.

Cheers for the review Stu, very useful.
Sounds like it would probably do for me - I only listen to Radio 4 (spoken word mostly)! so sound quality not as important as signal quality. I was more interested in the mp3 input, preferring to choose my own music.
Richard's mod looks tempting but I'd worry I would end up with a radio that did nothing, rather than one which gets only R4 LW as at present.
Regards
Robbie

Salut Franck
That's the DIN socket you need.
Yep, that's the eBay radio I was talking about. I put in a couple of tentative bids and again just now with a few hours to go. I won't go any higher - I'm still convinced I'll find one for a fiver in a car boot sale!

I have a question.
I know nothing about about the radio you have shown photos of, Franck, but I see it needs a DIN plug to connect an external input.
My concern is that, so far as I know, the socket it plugs into (on the radio) has no switching arrangement. It is just a socket.
Therefore, surely, it would need a DIN plug with the correct pins wired together, before it would work at all?
Perhaps this is why the advertisements say 'consult your dealer' if you wish to connect an external source? That is maybe to say some internal rewiring of the set is required, perhaps the making or removal of a link wire.
Perhaps this is why the set does not work?
Perhaps Vernon can help?
Maybe all your radio needs is a correctly wired DIN plug.
I suppose a further question is 'Is there enough room to install the radio with a DIN plug sticking out at the back?'
Perhaps the socket does include some switching arrangement, in which case I am completely wrong.
I'm sorry for the excessive use of the word 'perhaps', but I am trying to help.
regards
Richard

Salut Richard
Your analysis is right; but what Franck's picture doesn't show is the DIN blanking plug. It has a wire link that connects tuner to amp, so yes, if you take it out you'll need a switching arrangement. Basically a flying lead with a small box and a switched headphone/line in socket (plus a couple of resistors). With nothing plugged in the headphone/line in socket is shorted and so tuner is connected to amp. Plug in a source to the headphone/line in socket and this source takes the place of the tuner.
I think I showed the arrangement in another thread.

Salut les amis
Richard, you?re asking the right questions! And yes Vernon can help us !
Flying leads with a DIN plug and a mini jack can easily be found on ebay, but there surely have a lack of space to fit it.
I haven?t checked my radio, I just have put electricity and the light on ?
So Vernon, I?m interested if you can sell me one of your switching arrangement
