Mechanical Oil Pressure gauge line

PostPost by: prezoom » Tue Apr 26, 2011 3:21 pm

Steve,

The 1/8" black nylon line I bought is compatible with oils/fuels, and will be used on another car I am restoring. That car also has a vacuum line for the windshield washer system, which is 3/16". Both original lines were black, and I would like to keep it that way if possible. The original lines have outlived their usefulness and needed replacing.

Thanks for an additional source.

Rob,

Good to know. How did you verify the maximum oil temperature capability for the black line? I could never manage to pin anyone down on that part. BTW, how hot do you think the oil gets in your engine? I've never added an oil temperature gauge to any of my cars.

I added a gauge to my Mini and found the nylon tube that came with the gauge was too small to give a good response. I replaced it with a steel-braided Aeroquip or Goodridge line with a larger bore and that solved the problem immediately. It's much more durable as well. Can't remember where I bought it - probably somewhere like Demon Tweaks.
