Wiper motor parking switch

Can anyone tell me how to change the parking switch on our Lucas LRW110 14W wiper motor. Can the switch be unclipped from outside, or do I have to open up the gearbox and remove the pinion etc to get access to the switch..Any advice or tips welcome..Thx..Tony

Hi Tony,
Sorry for late reply, been working, no paying attention.
You might have done it by now, but it slides out without dismantling, slide it away from the motor.
I park the wipers in the middle when I do it, not sure if it helps, but moves the wee ramp away from the switch striker.

Iain thank you so much..I have spent hours on our forum archive and on YouTube and yours is the first clear answer on what I would have thought was an often asked question from the owners of the thousands of cars of dozens of marques that share with the Elan, the Lucas 12 to 17W series wiper motor ! John, thx..there seem to be hundreds of these on ebay- and all claiming to be original Lucas..! I was aware there is some kind of metal clip (and a plastic pushbutton) but the clincher advice from Iain was to confirm it can be unclipped from the outside: ie without disassembly. Indeed this seems to be the method for Landrovers because the motor mounting orientation allows However for Elans (and almost every other application I have seen), because of the wiper motor mounting orientation, the parking switch is awkwardly underneath, and inaccessible, so you have to release the motor from from the inner wing: at which stage I can see that you could loosen the 3/4 in.bundy fastener nut, unclip the connector block, rotate the motor to access the switch and unclip it. but I fear that because I haven't unclipped the switch before to get the knack and because the bundy tube is stiff I will better remove the motor from the car to change the switch on the bench: this requires opening the lid to disengage the moving arm from the wheel to release the unit from the drive cable and this requires removing the circlip - still saves needing to remove the econd, lower circlip holding the wheel.. Hi there is two types of park switch one has screws in side the casing other as previously stated slides out. You still have to remove the motor to check and replace. The access to the screws requires the gear wheel to be removed.
Hope its the removable type
