Column mounted Ignition switch engagement

PostPost by: 0005K » Sat May 18, 2024 7:22 pm

I'm having an issue with the new 157 SA ignition switch engaging the blade in the ignition housing. Lining up the bump in the switch casting with the slot in the column casting does not provide enough engagement to allow the switch to actuate properly. It works fine when I turn it with a screwdriver blade.. Am I missing a small part which may go between the switch and the blade?

Can you post pictures of the pin & socket? I have way too much experience with these components & can maybe help...

This is a part of my collection, you can see the hole in the electrical switch & the drive peg in the mechanical switch:

Should not be any separate part...

Thanks Phil
I’ll take a picture tomorrow am
But it doesn’t feel like it is any bigger than a blade- not something that is the same shape as the switch depression.

I'm missing the lump that fits in the switch recess. This must have happened when I took it to a locksmith to replace the lost ignition keys a few years ago. Does it just press onto the blade?

I'll just fabricate a new nub to fit over the blade and fit into the switch using an old bobbin or a chunk of plastic. Thanks for the picture!

Whoever broke the drive peg must have been very heavy handed. Here is the clearest picture I have of the part with the drive peg feature on the end:

Only problem is to replace that part requires dis-assembling the whole steering lock assembly, which requires removing the anti-tamper screws - quite a job!!

I hope you can do that; otherwise I have replacement steering locks.
