Does anyone know the model number or a car source I can use to have the alternator tested? I have a charging issue and tried to have the alternator tested at and tried the 89 Chevy Sprint which looked like the correct connection but the tester couldn’t get response.

Alan, when you receive your alternator can you confirm you get one with the correct pulley installed? I was away from the car for a few days so just saw this thread. I had to recently purchase a replacement alternator and the one I got had a pulley for a wider belt. I am trying to order a second replacement with the correct pulley size, or at a minimum have a pulley available.
Thanks in advance

I bought my alternator from RD. The pulley didn't line up with the crank pulley. Rather than go the spacer route I did the following: Bolt generator to its bracket, bolt alt to its bracket, bolt the two together. Brought it to my favorite auto electric guys to line up. They installed a new pulley that lined up perfectly with the generator pulley and had the correct width to match the generator pulley width. $40.00, what a deal!

Stu,
The new alternator came with a pulley installed for the v belt. The pulley has slight dimensional differences, mm here, mm there, but the existing fan belt seems to actually fit the sides of the v pulley better.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. Sorry for late reply. That clarifies things a bunch.
I opted to use my original pulley (that came with the original alternator kit) on the replacement alternator. Worked out but was a pain when on the road. In order to remove and replace the pulley we needed to source an impact driver during a holiday long weekend, which ended up delayed when a helpful friend with the correct tool tested positive. Ended up OK but a couple of days delay on my big trip of the year.
My plan is to purchase a spare pulley and alternator and have it available. Not sure if it is exclusively a Plus 2 Federal issue, but there is very little clearance to my steering shaft, and I had a heck of a time finding a belt and pulley combo that would fit.
Thanks again. Will have to follow up as have not heard from my supplier in in a while.
