Redundant capacitor

PostPost by: Donels » Tue Aug 16, 2022 10:14 am

My voltage regulator has a capacitor attached which I assume is to smooth out the pulses as the bimetallic strip opens and closes. I have just had the regulator converted to solid state so I’m assuming I no longer need the capacitor. Am I correct?

You don't need it on the Voltage Stabiliser.

Hi Dave,
It was there to suppress radio interference from the stabiliser contacts opening and closing.
No contacts in a modern electronic unit so as Alan says, not needed now.
