Front side light orientation (1968 S4)

PostPost by: RichardHawkins » Fri Apr 15, 2022 1:31 pm

Does anyone know which part of the side light should be at the top?

My workshop manual and parts book both have drawings of the side light with the small shroud uppermost, I cannot find anything in the text to confirm this position.

My old lights were fitted with the shroud on the outside, ie the right light has the shroud on the the right of the lamp, the left light has the shroud on the left of the lamp.

The existing holes in the body, position the lights with the shroud to the side.

Was there or is there any regulation governing side lights?

Should I be drilling more holes in the body?

Your old lights were the wrong way round. The shroud should go to the inside and the clear part of the lens then faces the outside of the car. It is mentioned in the workshop manual

Check out this thread on the subject....
