Who can now calibrate a speedometer

PostPost by: loueelotus » Tue Oct 26, 2021 3:48 pm

I need to calibrate a speedometer on my Elan S2 and spoke to Peter at Nisonger in New York about a month ago by email and he gave me prices, but now I see they are not repairing anymore looking at the website today and only selling gauges. Where is there a place to get this done properly in North America now..
Thanks,
Lou

Wow, that's terrible... just found :

As most of you are probably aware by now, during the early morning hours of Sept. 2nd Nisonger’s facility was buried under 6’ of water as Hurricane Ida passed through the New York area. A substantial portion of our irreplaceable repair parts inventory along with numerous pieces of Test Equipment were damaged or destroyed. After lengthy consideration, we do not feel that we will be able to provide the level of repair and restoration service going forward for which we have become so well-known and respected, thus:

Effective October 15th, Nisonger Instruments will devote its full efforts to the Sale of Classic Smiths & Smiths OEM Replacement Gaugers for the AC/Shelby Cobra’s & GT40’s.

When I had doubts about my speedo's accuracy I used a GPS app on my phone to compare correct speed with what my speedo said.
Then printed up a small chart that sits next to the speedo.
Ok, I know....purists are screaming, but I haven't had any inadvertent speeding tickets since doing that.

Ralph.

Thank you all for the info.. Working on it as soon as the salt and snow comes. I will start slowly and do the regular check list to store and make sure it is safe for next spring. For now here comes another winter in Canada..

Best,
Lou

I used Joel Levine a while back to repair the Smiths speedo in my former Esprit. He can do just about anything you need.
