door conduit

Any suggestions as to a conduit to contain the wires to the electric windows (and whatever else, but mine is a simple early Plus 2!) from the area of the door hinge across to the internals of the door?
Perhaps as simple as a short length of rubber pipe, but it must tolerate a variety of indignities!
Regards,
Bill

Not sure about the early cars, but the later cars have a short piece if steel tubing with a flange on one end that mounts to the body and extends through the larger hole in the door. They would be pretty easy to make. I can get you some photos and dimensions if you like. I know just what box they are in.

To add to the previous posts, pictures of the tubes from my later Plus 2 but I don't believed they changed.
The flange is 1 1/2" diameter with two holes on 1" pcd for 1/2" x 6 pozi pan self tappers. Thickness about 0.030" /22 gauge/0.80mm. Tube 3" long x 1/2" OD x 0.425" id.
Hope this helps!

There you go. Beat me to it. The only thing I'd add is that on my '70 car the flange is about an inch in diameter, has three screw holes, and isn't so nicely plated.
Like stated above, it mounts from inside the car and the screws go into an inner panel of fiberglass and don't protrude into the door opening. Mine didn't have any sort of sealant where it passes through the fiberglass to the outside but it might not be a bad idea if done cleanly. Because the flange doesn't mount against the outer layer of the body, a gasket won't work.

Thanks all for all your trouble!
Inching ever closer to again having the joy of driving a Pus 2.
Attaching window relays to a piece of ply glued above the top hinge recess ( space behind dash all occupied!!) when I realised I needed to install conduit before imminent fixing of carpet.
And Gary, did you know that down here the spray from the windscreen washers rotates anti clockwise?
Regards

Hi everyone,
I would like to resurrect this thread.
I am making a pair of these tubes and from a facebook group, I have been told that the flange isn’t square on the end of the tube but that the tube is slightly angled. Please could someone confirm this and if possible give me an angle or mm deviation from vertical that i can work with.
Thanks
Mark

It is square on the units on a ‘70 Federal Plus 2, will try and post some pictures.
But it’s Lotus, so that’s no guarantee that other years/models are varied.

Sorry for the photo quality but it looks square and the fibreglass it screws into is also flat.
These look original - will clean them up before reinstall (: promise (:...
