Battery to Starter solenoid cable 1968 +2

It's both a combination of my age and that I removed the battery to Starter solenoid cable many years ago.
But could someone please advise how this cable was retained in position.
My car is a 1968 RHD +2
Part of the cable did have old contact adhesive on, this was where it passed along the floor pan and I think it was also against the sill. This is confirmed by the cut out at the base of the Rear Quarter Panel, see photos.
How was it fixed behind the rear quarter panel going over the turret into the boot.
Not fixed at all, fixed with P clips or contact adhesive.
Also it's the same question on how its fixed at the front, going from the grommet down to the floor. (See photo)
Thanks for any comments.

Yeah, I've got those same things going on as well, but I'm pretty sure mine was laying loose the whole way except for the grommet on the firewall and a P clamp back by the battery.

Thanks Bud and John for your comments.
I can now get on with fitting the under felt.
Should be all complete by the time Sue Miller sends me the new carpets for both the cabin and boot.
Getting close to fitting the body back to the rolling chassis.

Hi Andy.
Thanks for your comments.
My cable had very large lumps off contact adhesive on it, in some places blobs as large as peas. Duck tape would not leave this amount of residual adhesive.
The contact adhesive was only on the cable that ran along the floor pan and the cable was not fixed going into the boot or into the engine bay. I had concerns of the cable rattling against the body, but it appears that this is not an issue. Mind you it is a very stiff cable.
I have used a combination of contact adhesive on the cable and butted the under felt up to it which helps to retain it in position.
