S4 Federal wiring diagram - Especially Headlights!

I know there's a few in the archives but has anyone doctored up an original type wiring diagram (with an alternator) for a federal Elan S4
My problem is that the car had a homemade front and rear loom with a slightly doctored dash loom.
I managed to get a new front and rear loom from ebay which are superb (I think a bargain at ?20)
Anyway I need to correct the dash loom which has a few extra wires to the rev counter and the ignition switch, the originals being taped up. Also the lighting has a few extra as well!

I especialy need help on the headlights. The new front loom has two relays but no flasher circuit or relay.
My federal dash loom has an adsence of wires around where the vacuum light switch is?
Anyone could post a headlamp diagram for a 1969 federal S4 would be great

Personally I would not worry about the flasher for the headlights. Many like mine have been removed over the years as it is possible they are not legal. (in the UK).

Are you just trying to make it work, or are you trying to be fully 'original'?

Which is the site library. Which is a bit difficult to find at present because (I presume) ity is due to be replaced by the new Wiki which is not yet ready.




If your headlight relays are on the left side in the Federal Elan, the layout is probably the same for both Federal & UK Elans.

Thanks Bill I'll have a search. I'm just after it to work.
I sussed one of my problems is that the federal dash had the micro switch at the dash, The new front loom has provision for a micro switch on the headlights.
Has anyone a photo of how the micro switch fixes to the headlight as its probably easier to do it that way

I cant see much point in a version that has a micro-switch operated by the dashboard vacuum knob, because surely one of its reasons is to prevent the headlight coming on and getting very hot if the pod fails to rise up.

Oh. that's because you have rocker switches in the dash?

On my S3, the headlight switch is 3 position: OFF, Sidelights,Headlights, so even with the pods up, and with a microswitch in a pod, I can still turn the headlights off.

I just have a two position sidelight switch .... OFF/ON and a micro switch on the main Vacuum switch
No wonder all this is confusing
