Bootlight

PostPost by: Kerryt333 » Fri Nov 09, 2012 12:51 am

Does anyone know or have a picture of the bootlight that was originally put in +2S130's?
Mine has the wiring ,I think, & the actuator on the hinge, but no lamp.

John, this is where the boot light is fitted on my 1971 Plus 2 S130, its mounted centrally on the square section bar just behind the parcel shelf. Also included a pic of the switch arrangement with the said bar showing just behind it. Hope this helps.

The light is on the boot brace as shown in the previous post on my 1970 +2S but on the 1973 +2S130/5 it is mounted centrally and towards the top of the boot back board (the hardboard panel between the tank and boot compartment). Like all things Lotus, it was perhaps mounted according to what the assembler had for breakfast

You can buy a twin pack of exactly the same light from The Range for ?2.99

Thanks Jon,
Great response, looks like a trip to the nearest Range branch then.
Didn't know there was another +2S130 so close.

I'm pretty sure there was a notice/bulletin to return the +2S130 board mounted light to the bar as in the early ones--apparently it didn't really work to have it on the board--mine ('73) was mounted on the bar and I saw that notice of the change somewhere?? Gordon Sauer

When I said that the wiring was there for my bootlight, I think , that was probably me being optomistic.
There are lots of spare wires in the boot area, but none appear to be live to power the bootlight.
The loom comes round into the boot & leaves 1 brown& 1blue wire in the left corner, then goes to the
tank sender unit, then 3 or 4 earths to earth bolt, then 1purple, 1purple with white trace, 1 black with red trace,
1 black earth to light switch on boot hinge area,1 further purple with white trace, & finally 1brown & 1blue wire in
right corner.I can't power a bulb to earth from any of the coloured wires ,didn't try it with the ignition on.
As you can probably tell electrics are not one of my strong subjects.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

on my car and of 2/130 wiring diagram
Blue and brown on left and right are speaker wires
Purple is live feed to boot light
Purple/white is boot light to switch on hinge
Purple should be live all the time as per door lights
Mine is mounted centrally on the board on my 73 2s130

Thanks for reply Graham,
I'll have a look into it today.I wonder why the brown & blue wires haven't been used for speakers as it has some
connected.

On mine I ran new wires for the speakers and used the right hand blue for connection of electric aerial to the radio unit
