PostPost by: lotslow » Sat Sep 15, 2012 3:02 pm

Hello,

do anyone know where to get new Elan S3 Lucas style window lift swiches?
What s the original Lucas? part No (not Lotus part No), are there any cross references?
Would like to see sketches/drawings, showing the the internal connexion.

They're a 3-way switch with external jumpers across the connections to create a reversing switch. Mine were dodgy but I carefully pulled each apart and using electrical switch cleaner (Maplin or other) got them working perfectly again. On the other hand, you could try someone like Auto Electrical Supplies (AES) or even Speedy Cables if you don't want to try rejuvenating your own. 8)

Hi Peter,

I see SJ Sportcars have these switches listed. Not cheap at GBP36.50.
I thought these Window lift switches were unique to the Lotus which would explain their rarity and price.

Paul Matty supplied my new ones, which are slightly larger than original, so require enlarging the holes in the back of the dashboard, but otherwise they have been perfect. Similar price though, ?35-ish.

If you were stuck and not fussed about originallity, you could use one of these, perhaps.

A single pole could be used in conjunction with two relays.

If you still have the original switches, why not try cleaning them? (see earlier suggestion.) It's a lot cheaper than spending?70 odd and if it doesn't work you've only lost a bit of time and the price of some spray contact cleaner!!
