Where are the control unit aan fuse box on my +2s130?

Hi - I have had my +2 waiting for me to start a much needed restoration for a while, so I thought I would launch myself onto the forum as a new member with a daft sounding question.
THe restoration is hopefully mostly body, electrics and interior but its a while since the car ran so I thought it was time to try and start the car up. After a few promising but brief attempts at running there was a bang and then complete deadness. On the plus side no smoke, burning smells or flame... but now no dash lights of any kind. The only fuses I can find are the ones under the cover on the dash. The manual shows control and fuse boxes but not in situ - not even a Haynes Manual type indecipherable picture. I am damned if I can find them. I am of course relying on the known fact that once I have written this, exposing my ignorance and sent it off into the blue I will walk out and peer at the car and immediately spot the missing items. I am hoping that once I find them the fault will be obvious but Im not holding my breath. regards Jim

Jim,
those fuses on the dash are all you get! Lots of us add more fuses when working on the electrics and a popular option is to add a modern fusebox when re-wiring.

Hi
There are also lots of different wiring diagrams in the manual for the different +2. Firstly make sure you are looking at the correct diagram.
If you have a 130 you should be looking in the dash fusebox. What year is your car? UK or export?.
I have an early +2 so the fusebox is next to the brake servo.

"Control box" . . . Hmm . . . sounds like a computer . . .
Welcome, Jim. Sorry to "hear" about the bang.
Most of us wish we only had mechanicals to rebuild. But stick around here; you'll get all your questions answered, and lots of sympathy/moral support

THanks for the replies everyone.... The car is a UK spec 1971 model . By the state of the body, now Ive got most of the paint off, its lead quite an interesting life with lots of minor repairs and in some places 12 coats of paint . The wiring looks its age so a rewire will probably have to be done but at the moment I was just hoping it would run to turn the engine over while I got on with the thousand other things which need doing, oh well.. I will carry on looking for the source of the bang - hoping it was electrical...regards jim

That's easy to do. Just run a live wire to the + on the ignition coil. Then you just have to make the starter turn; you can do this by pushing the button under the solenoid (if you have a button) or bridging the 2 large terminals.
Obviously when you bridge the terminals you will get a spark and what every you are using will get hot so 'at your own risk'.
