Tacho needle "flutter"

Hi
Never thought I'd ever have to ask this since I've never had the problem before. I recently changed coils from one suitable for electronic ignition systems in general to one made by Lumenition (the system is Lumenition optronic). Never had a problem with tacho function before now but since fitting the new coil, when starting, the needle wants to run backwards (at least to my eyes it does). Oddly, after a few miles it stabilises and mostly behaves normally with only the occasional downward flicker when idling. Nothing was otherwise altered when I fitted it. Car is a 72 sprint.
Anybody experienced something similar?

Hi John
Have a look at: http://www.lotuselan.net/publish/bouncing_tach.shtml
I think it's pretty common.
