dwelling over things......

bit of a long shot this...
when removing the rotor arm i found the top of the camshaft to be damaged/butchered...resulting in a loose fit for my nice new unrestricted rotor arm, that was to replace the burnt tipped governed one,(the car is a 1973 s130,......so im assuming its out of factory warranty!!!)
i take it this can be removed by taking out the centre screw and removing baseplate etc..?
my question,
is this top part of shaft common to all type 25 lucas distributors? ie, minis and fords of the same era?
i know the old minis had lucas dizzys with points at 15 thou, the same as ours, so this should give the same 60 degree dwell as our engines.....

has anyone had to replace this part?

thanks in advance....

Long time since I've looked at it but I'm pretty sure that the Cam that drives the points varies according to the application both in terms of lift and dwell.

This article is very informative......http://simonlacey.com/pages_new/content/documents/lucastuning.pdf
It seems for each family of Lucas distributor the only things which vary between applications are the advance springs and the cam. The springs control the advance curve and the cam limits the maximum advance. So you would need to get a cam with the same max advance as you have currently - the figure is stamped on the top face.
