How are the horns mounted?

PostPost by: paddy » Sun Oct 24, 2010 9:38 pm

Does anyone have a photo of how the Lucas horns are mounted? I did look in the archives without success.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Paddy

I looked in my folder of uploaded engine bay photos and found this one. I think that with nearly a hundred different bays, one would offer what you are looking for. The brackets are just a flat shape, kind of looks like a dog house that is though bolted to the two front chassis/body bolts. Let me know if this doesn't answer the question and I'll see if I can find the horns with brackets in the morning.

I looked around and I found one horn this morning with out the bracket, I'll take a look in the trailer later this morning and see if I can get some detail.

Hi Gary,

Your words tell me a lot more than the picture does, thanks. The engine bay photos are interesting and very useful but it's impossible to know what's definitive (if there ever is such a thing), hence the question. If there was a photo of the bracket itself it would be great but please don't go out of your way.

Thanks - Paddy

The photo Ted posted shows a bracket just like the ones which came in my S3. They are very rigid compared to the more flexible modern brackets. I would say at least 2mm thick steel.
