Accelerator cable attachment

PostPost by: Tonyw » Mon Aug 16, 2010 1:15 pm

Hi all,

Can someone please see if they can post a photo of how the throttle/accelerator cable connects to a Stromberg carb TC? I need to see understand how the bracket that holds the outer cable I assume it is a bracket bolted to the cam cover.

Thanks in advance.

Tony,
Have a look at his thread, there's a pic of a cam cover showing the accelerator cable bracket.

Elanman,

Thanks for pointing that out, looks simple but I am not sure i want to drill holes in my Rocker box, do we know if this is a standard method?

It's not just a couple of holes drilled right through the cover. The area under the bracket is machined flat and two blind holes are drilled into an area where an extra depth of alloy has been cast.

Tony,
It's a different cam cover for the Stromberg engine, the bosses for the bracket securing bolts are cast in. As you say I wouldn't want to drill and tap a standard cover, it's not flat and probably way too thin.

Regards,

Stuart you beat me to it !

Thanks Guy's,

That is really helpful, I obviously have a Weber cam cover, I can make something up to work around this I think thanks for the posts.

Stromberg style cam covers are relatively common given that many Stromberg heads have been retired or replaced with Weber ones. You should be able to find one on Ebay or swap with someone who has a Stromberg one on a Weber head.

I was faced with this situation when I changed to a different intake manifold. Solution was to make a bracket that fastens to the manifold bolts.
