Fixed Position Headlights on a +2.

PostPost by: lotuselanman » Sat Nov 28, 2009 1:43 am

Gidday,
Wondering if anyone has done away with pop up, most of the time, headlights on a +2 and fitted fixed 7" units with Lexan or similar covers ?

See ya, Les.

I saw a picture of a +2 with this setup in a tarmac rally in South Australia

It was not very appealing to my eye

A friend of mine repaired his +2 after an accident years ago and put in fixed head lights. Drove it like that for years. The picture was taken during its repaint.

Ron Hickman said he abandoned the idea of round tail lights for the +2 because he did not want to be accused of mimicking Ferrari. Obviously no worries in this case!

My friend always was a Ferrari fan. Those nose vents are no accident. A later second photo is attached.

Gidday,
Thanks for the replies.
The car looks good, appears the bumper may have been moved forward and down.
Do you know if the car is still about the place ? I would like to contact the owner for some more detailed shots
or the person who did the work on it.
Thanks,
Les.

I am sorry my friend died last year :( His car has been parted out over the last several years due to a bad chassis and a tired engine. Most of the parts have found a good home keeping other +2s on the road. It was a pretty car that always got positive comments when parked.

Are you sure it works? Don't you think the lights look a couple of inches too close to the wheel arch? Other than that, I like it.
I am now an ex-Elan owner but will drop by from time to time with some suitably inappropriate comments.

I really think it works well, not too sure about the vents, but the headlights look great, better than original?
