S4 sidelights

The ongoing trials and tribulations of a basket case rebuild....

I have 1 sidelight with the car, It has a glass lens "like a beehive"
I ordered a new one from Susan Miller, and the lense is plastic and nothing like the glass original.

The questions are, which is right?
Does anyone want to trade for the right items - if not I'l just return to Susan and get the right one (or order another and sell the glass one)

The original lenses are plastic - Lucas L658. Replicas are available on ebay and they are almost identical except that the chrome cover ring is a bit shallower than the original. Original is on the left in the attached pic.

Does anyone know what the glass lens is from? As Susan Miller has sent me the right lamp (judging from the photos) but it doesn't match my "original" lamp!

You'll have to put up a picture. My Elite has glass side lamps, a bit more dumpy that the Elan ones.

Here's what I have:
I did find "Lucas 550u" on the rubber, but looking at the rubber part I don't beleive this to be original as the bulb is a clipless type.

Yep, that's an Elite lamp. And I just bought a new one for my car! Surprisingly, the new 'repro' one also has a glass lens. They are ?27 new complete. I'd be interested in buying yours as a spare if it's in good nick! And the price is right, of course.

I thought the TR4 used the same side light - but I may be wrong

Defintiely Elite - nicer in my opinion, but wrong!!

They're certainly advertised as the same as TR4, and similar enough if a matched pair used.

I like them more too, but as you say definitely wrong.

Sold now, for a massive ?1.71!
