Wiper Motor.

Hello.
I need to confirm the conections on the mulit plug connecter on my 1969 +2s wiper motor. At the moment i have this
position 1 black .(Earth)
2 Yellow/ black (Fast speed)
3 Red/ black
4 Yellow (slow speed )
5 Brown /purple. (12v feed )
Is this correct as i seem to be having problems.

Acccording to my little diag it's

1 Earth-Black

2 Park-Black/yellow

3 Fast-Light green

4 Battery-Green

5 Slow-Yellow

but I have been known to be wrong..

Take the wiper arms off and put them back on in the right place! Thats the easy way. I don't think its adjustable as I think the pin that actuates the park switch is fixed to the big cog.

By "alter" do you mean adjust? If so, Alex is correct. On the other hand, if you are asking how to get the wipers to park on the opposite side, the (partial) answer is that you have to open the motor gear box.

Hi John,

Refering to the attached file further up the discussion (exploded diagram on last page), you will need to take the cover plate (1) off and remove the large gear wheel (7). On the other side of this, there should be a pin which activates the park switch.

From this point it could be easy or difficult. Wiper motors have say a 110 degree rotation but you need to swap the end point of your travel. In effect, you need to remove the pin and re-fit it in an equal but opposite position on the gear. Lucas may have designed them with 2 pin positions to do this but I'm not sure.

All may become clear when you have it apart.....

Alex answered your question however there are two different styles of wiper gearbox. If you have the later style (and I believe you do), all you have to do is remove the gearbox cover, rotate it 180 degrees, and reinstall.

There are two wiper motor units; the DR3 and the DR3A. I can't remember which is which, but on one of them, you slaken the screws that hold the gearbox cover on and rotate the domed cover 180 degrees. On the other model, you remove the screws completely and open the gearbox. Then you relocate the crankpin 180 degrees either by moving it to the opposite side of the gear, or by flippig the gear itself (I can't remember).

Once you remove the wiper assembly from the car, it will be fairly obvious.
