Im working my way through car, sorting little probs..my in boot light doesnt work,it has power to it,which cuts off when boot switch is depressed..im not good with electrics, when i put a multimeter to the terminals i get a positive reading, but on other terminals such as in car lights i get a negative reading, these lights work fine..so is boot different or incorrect?

Lotus electrics....usual problem....with a multimeter you could measure a good 12volts across the bulb terminals but if you have a high resistance connection somewhere inline the bulb will not be able to draw the current required....first step is to use a length of wire and provide a good earth to replace the earth wire on the fitting to narrow it down to earth or battery feed.....ditto with a direct battery feed.

To fault the faulty circuit a test lamp is better than a voltmeter..
