'68 Elan battery

PostPost by: tyasman » Sun Nov 25, 2007 4:00 pm

Could someone please tell me what is the correct battery for a ' 68 Elan S4, including Amp/hours and "cranking amps". Mine is a Type 15 with cranking amps of 32, but looking at a type 15 on the net the one advertised has cranking amps of 45. Would this be OK?
Thanks.

It's "bigger the better" with batteries, especially if you don't use the car every day. Measure up and go to your local battery emporium. The bigger the reservoir of energy in the battery, the faster it will crank over.
One other thing....ALWAYS fit a battery master switch in an Elan.

I've had a red Optima battery in my Sprint for over a year now... 750 cranking amps! That, along with a gear reduction starter help make sure my Elan starts! My battery is in the trunk however; it may not fit behind the seat as on some other models.
