ignition issues

Just trying the twink to start after a rebuild.
Decided to get things set up in stages rather than going for the belt 'n' braces approach, but have hit a problem with the ignition...
+12V at the +Ve pole of the coil
aldon ignitor black wire connected to the -ve side of the coil
+12v line connected to red wire of aldon ignitor.
turn over the engine on the starter, no spark
Check the output of the ignitor black wire while turning the engine over, using a multimeter and it is clear that it is alternating between +12v and 0v
have also changed the coil..
Any ideas?
Tim

Tim,
That sounds very familiar; I had the same thing a couple of weeks ago. The car had been working fine, then one evening it just wouldn't start. The ignitor is on its way to Aldon for them to check it out. Won't be surprised if there is no fault found. No idea what the issue was: I was convinced it was the coil and tried several - and everything else i could think of, for that matter.
Runs fine again now on points.
good luck and best regards, iain

Hi Tim
I would check the coil first, nice cheap fix.
Disconnet all existing wires and HT leads from the coil.
Connect the Coil +ve to 12v, push a HT lead into the coil and hold the other end near an earth (I use an old spark plug and HT lead).
Connect a wire from the -ve connect on the coil.
Touch the other end of the -ve wire to earth. You should get a nice fat spark.
Make sure you do not touch the end if the HT lead!
If you have a bad heart do not try this
If you have a spare coil you could just substitute it.
Hope this helps
