No more bouncing Tach!

After 6 years of living with a useless bouncing tachometer due to my electronic ignition, I bit the bullet and sent the Tacho away to be converted to the RVC type. Three weeks later, the unit comes back and it is brilliant; no more bouncing needle, and the display is rock steady and (I presume) accurate.
Why didn't I do it before? Because I am a cheapskate!
Don't live with a bouncing Tach, get it fixed... Best money I have spent for some time.
Jeremy
PS I do not have any affiliation with any refurb companies

Hi JJD what did your conversion cost and who did it?
I have fitted an Aldon Igniter - but I am doing a rebuild and haven't started it yet - but I suspect it will "bounce"

Bruce,
I fitted an Aldon ignitor and to my surprise, had no problems with tacho bounce. Wait until you try it before paying for a conversion, you may be pleasantly surprised.

The conversion is offered by several specialists, and I ended up with Speedycables, who were recommended by Lumenition. Costs were 55GBP plus VAT & carriage, around 78GBP in total. A websearch on RVI & RVC comes up with all sorts of interesting stuff... The unit came back with a new shiny bezel, plated case and cleaned dial and clear instructions for re-wiring (very simple). The unit is also backwards compatible if the car ever goes back to points.
I agree with Chris that you should wait until you have a problem before fixing it!

What I would give for a bouncing Tacho that at least I could guestimate the average !!
Mine has only ever bounced off the zero stop occasionally when i brake and I have standard ignition
Cheers
