Hi Everyone
Well here is the latest on the re-manufacture of the lotus + indicator castings
I have been chasing my nephew for news on these and eventually got this info in an email yesterday
Quote " The frame you sent is with a company who specialised in making classic car parts. But unfortunately they have gone into receivership.
I am trying to get in touch with both the owner and the administrator.
This is very embarrassing on my behalf and I can only apologise, hopefully the administrator will let me in and I can collect the original indicator casting.
Failing that we should get the casting back, this chap has past history of this type of thing usually when he gets a large tax bill, and he resurrects the company with out any debt. I have found this out after giving him the casting. If that fails then I owe you one indicator casting, I guess that they are like gold dust!!
Sorry I have put you in this predicament. I will keep you informed as to what's happening."
Well what can I say other than to pass on my Embarrassment BUT faint heart never **** and all that !
This WILL be resolved I assure you and one way or another we shall have the indicator castings at a reasonable price or at least know that they are NOT feasible cost wise to re-manufacture in any quantity (say 50 sets)
Mark as you supplied me with the sample one (which is currently impounded ) I promise that you shall have one returned to you as per our agreement even if i have to buy you one on eBay !! hopefully though the situation will be resolved and the original retrieved and sent to another caster for doing. Please bare with me on this for a while, unless your in a rush and then I'll try to get you one.
As and when I have more info I will post here sorry for the bad news and will keep trying
Cheers

Bad luck Peter.
Interestingly, I was in Paul Matty's a couple of weeks ago and they had an indicator assembly in the display cabinet. A sign next to it said something like 'New Plus 2 indicator units available soon'. Or maybe it said July - can't remember exactly.
Are these supplied by yourself?

Don't worry Peter, that sidelight was going to be replaced anyway. It's great that you're looking to get these bits and pieces made....thanks for trying. If the sidelight doesn't come back, it's not a problem to me.

Mark
Thanks a lot for being so understanding I'm sure I WILL get it back and hopefully also get some cast again, my nephew is very good in this field its just that his firm do not do such small items at all.
Jon
PM me or send me a message to my email address below and after I get back to Kenmare I call you and see what we can arrange, as I said I wouldn't mind a trip to Clare anyway so I'm sure we'll get something sorted in Aug.
Cheers

Well folks we may be back on track one of the elan.net illustrious members has PM'd me to offer to send me a pair of old indicators again for this project
So when I have them I'll be again on the search for a suitable casting establishment and hopefully this time succeed in getting them made at a reasonable cost all plated up, they will have to be a lot less than ?150 each! for me to do this for sure.
I'm contemplating getting 50 pairs made if the cost is acceptable and the quality good.
I think I have found a supplier for new lamp holders for the side light but not as yet for the indicator lamp, these though I believe are 'nice to have' rather than and essential, so will keep you informed as and when i have any more news on this
Cheers
