2 Distributer questions.

PostPost by: john.houston » Mon May 14, 2007 9:47 am

Hi .I was checking my Distributer and the first thing I noticed was that the PO had used a fixed rotor arm (he used his right foot as a limiter).Could somone tell me the best type to fit and if possible where to get one- this would be the limiting type "Standard". For runnig in I want to keep the revs as low as possible. +2 1969.

Second I only have to turn and rock the distributer shaft to see that the bush needs changing.Where can I get one from please?

Thanks again

John
I dont know what costs are like in the UK but in Australia the rev limiting rotors cost over A$100 which is pretty expensive for an item with limited life. These days better to fit an electronic rev limiter at a cost of around A$200 in Australia and a standard rotor at a cost of around A$10 that you cant afford to replace. The electronic limiters also do a more accurate and reliable job.

New replacement bushes and shafts for the Lucas distributors were hard to get a few years ago, dont know if anybody remaking them now as I have not had to find any recently.

cheers

The rotors do come up on ebay, I bought one for about 6 quid! It limits to 6500rpm

Rohan's electronic limiter route is the best and safest option.

Regarding a worn dizzy - contact Lee at H&H on 01384 261599 who will refurbish it and convert it to electronic if you want for a reasonable cost.
