Replacing Ignition Switch

I'm replacing my Lucas ignition switch, part #39415 (the component that all of the wires connect to on the back of the ignition key switch.) How does this switch connect to the back of the key switch? On my car, the previous Owner connected it with masking tape! I can't see any way to connect it otherwise. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks

Gary,
If it's the steering column lock type there should be a plastic 'tube thingy' that has one end big enough to clip over the lock body, a middle section that holds the switch itself, and a smaller diameter end that the wires pass through.
Mine is split but still has just enough 'hold' to keep the switch in place...

I moved the key to the dash and added a push button 'start ' switch --- real race car stuff --- ed---
