Hi does anybody know if there is a car radio that will fit the elan plus 2 that has at least FM tuning onit? I think the original radiomobile only has long and medium wave. If anybody knows of a make and model that will def. fit I would be vary grateful.
thanks

I have a vintage Philips Turnolock AM/FM radio that fits my baby Elan. 7" wide x 3 5/8" deep x 1 5/8" high. It has a dial and adjustable knobs that extend about 3/4" (max) beyond the body of the radio with an adjustable faceplate. I hunted over a year on eBay before I found one. This one also fits an Alfa Romeo Spider, so you may find something that fits your +2 by exploring that route. (I have the radio more to close off the hole in my dash, rather than to actually hear music... my Elan is too loud. I also enjoy the exhaust note anyway.)

Hi Simon
Just thought you may like to know that I had my Turnolock converted to FM and had a jack put in that plugs into a CD or MP3 player. The jack is in the glove box so does'nt spoil the original look.
It was done by a guy in Cheshire, he also sells period radio's and is familier with the size needed to fit an Elan, but be warned he's not cheap.

Got a Turnlock as well but only medium/long wave. I've tried replacing the aerial and tuning the radio to it but it's still dead crackley. Don't use it much.
Seriously thinking on fitting a wee FM radio in place of it with an input for an mp3 player/sat nav voice.
Hamish.

If anyone is still interested I have just placed a Philips Turnolock onto E-bay, adapted to FM and in perfect working order.

I think that either of those Radiomobile / Motorola will fit the S3...they don't have the depth restriction that the Plus 2 has, so will accept pretty much any radio of the period.

Not sure on the dimensions for your +2s, but try Blaupunkt or Becker radios, they've had FM since the war - and a din plug for your ipod (originally for the amp). Not high output (7watts) but enough for cruising and stationary traffic. Nice classic looks too...and a nice classic 35quid.
