Wiring Help

Hi Rick if you read this again, if I tell you the little black (resistors?) things in the wires are about 3mm square and look like they have been soldered into the length of wire does that give any further clues?

3mm , thats small . You need to test with a meter to see if current runs both ways through the black thing . If current runs both ways it is not a blocking diode . I have no other ideas then that as I am not familiar with the Elan S4 wiring .
