Gearbox Colour

PostPost by: Jack » Mon Sep 13, 2004 9:53 pm

I am in the middle of a chassis swap on my '70 +2s, and after having the gearbox reconditioned would like to give it a lick of paint. There are signs of a matt green paint on the casings, is this the original colour. If so would a matt green smoothrite look okay?
Thanks
Jack

Probably the colour Ford painted them. At the end of the day, is anyone going to grovel under your car and tell you that it's not the offical shade of Lotus Green?
I'm sure it will look great whatever colour you paint it!
Good luck

Jack,

I painted my bell housing dark green, the box black, the tail housing dark green, and clear coated the aluminum cover on top of the box. Probably not original, but it looked cool the last time I saw it. Of course, now it's buried in the chassis and nobody can see it, but I can tell you about it!
