Differential torque rod

So, looking at the torque rods on my 67 S3, I see a nylock nut on the end where normall
a conical nut would go. When I pulled the torque rods, I see the end of both rods are
flat, ie, no concave for the conical nut. Probably aftermarket rods?

The question is then, how important is having the concave on a torque rod with the
conical nut? My thinking is, apparently not so.

What say the collective minds?

Hi Greg,

Flat on my 67 S3 and concave on my 68 S4 so I'm sure that is was a later modification to improve location of the rod.

I would machine a cone on the torque rod and a cone on a nyloc nut as the welded in stud in the chassis will wear if just a plain nut is used

My Sprint has concave rods with cone nuts so this could have been a running change and to Rohan's point,
an engineering change deemed important.
