Jerry, I have a few empty cases laying around. I'll lightly paint the front and rear surfaces and
place the painted surfaces on some brown wrapping paper to get a template, of sorts. I can mail
it out to you. Will that work?

Greg, thanks for the offer but I worked as a CNC programmer/machinist for 15 years and fear that made me too anal, plus I've got a little hobby Tormach that I use. I'll reach out to a supplier of alloy repros and beg them for the data. Thought there'd be that kind of cat here on the forum. Jerry

Hi Jerry,
I am working on a several Lotus gearbox projects for the Elan, Eclat, & Europa, maybe I can help you. I am fitting a T5 to a twin cam, and to a Zetec ST170 for the purpose of putting it in a different Elan. I have a 3d scan of the original transmission, but I will have to do another scan of the rear of the bellhousing to get the bolt locations at the rear. I also have a few machines so I might just be that kind of cat
I am also doing a bellhousing for T5 to Lotus 907 for the Eclat, and a Zetec ST170 to Renault transaxle in a way that keeps the starter in the original zetec position.

Chuck, you certainly are into it, yikes!
I just find it hard to believe I can't get these dimensions from one of the aftermarket alloy vendors/manufacturers, let alone some Ford archive, it's not a nuclear code

Yeah a lot of that information is seemingly not "out there" or if it is it is difficult to come by. What are you plans for the gearbox & tail shaft? Are you doing a swap?

Heretic!
It will take me a little while (I have to borrow the scanner from a friend) but I will try to get the info off the rest of the box.

Chuck, appreciate the offer but I'm determined to get machining dimensions to satisfy my CNC/anal compulsion, thx.

A good coaxial indicator will do the trick for you!
Here are some pics of the projects at the moment. The casting I did for the Europa needs some bugs worked out. I had an issue with the plastic not fully burning out on the first piece so I used it as a set up piece to check my holes and alignment. So far so good! I decided to do a lost PLA casting because I really wanted to experiment with the method and see what was possible for a one off casting. The Europa bellhousing has little lugs on the trans side for the suspension mounts which make a sand cast more difficult because they form an undercut. I went to the trouble because I didn't want to cut the starter mount and reweld it to a more appropriate position for the zetec.
In the complete opposite approach the T5 to 907 is my attempt at something a little more fast and loose. I cut the back off a Jensen Healey BH and will machine an adapter plate for the T5 that gets welded on. I will machine the finished dimensions in after the part cools off The Eclat wants the tailhousing shifter location moved about 2" closer than the standard mustang position. We will see how that all turns out....
