Hi all
Does anyone have a standard gear lever - or know where to buy one? The car has moved on it’s own now, but it’s such a short throw I doubt it’s usable!! Won’t know until I get it on the road, but a contingency would be good!
Thanks
James

I got one from lotusbits.com but not that cheap.
The production gearbox used a Ford type-e (4 speed) stick so might be able to find one from Ford supplier.
I suggest checking with jonb that the housing on your box is correct for the standard gearstick.

Here is the gear lever, with the bottom bits of a standard one, thanks Vince Reynard, for comparison. Just need a good std one now!

Thanks for posting the photo. Interesting a custom extended base on standard looking stick.
I wonder why they would have done that. I don't think the 5 speed needs a shorter throw as it's quite short and already shorter than the four speed.
Maybe it transferred from earlier prototype that had the shift mechanism higher in the box and needed the gear stick raising to account for that.
Looks like getting a standard stick is the right thing to do.
Lotusbits.com sell them out you can hunt eBay etc for a Ford type e stick.

Quick update: replaced now with std lever, much better. Thanks to all for advice and in particular Jon B for weighing in with practical assistance and Vince Reynard for lending me bits to experiment with - they will be winging their way back to you this week Vince - Cheers
