Hi Sandy, I presume you want a comment regarding the bearing surface on the first motion shaft?
As I am unable to see all sides I will comment on what I can see. I would probably polish and make sure there are no sharp edges and re use with a new bearing and plenty of quality grease. Should last for ages in a road car. If racing I would think again. Others will probably dis agree and it will be your decision in the end.
Good luck, Lyn...

thanks fellas - the bearing is new (1000mls) and i also like the grease option - the brass bearing im afraid will wear due to the surface, whereas the needles are hardened and will "appreciate" more clearance! sandy PS: the gearbox has just been overhauled!

Hi Sandy, afraid not, if only it was that easy. Unfortunately the third motion shaft has to come out of the back and the first motion shaft is removed through the casing and out the top! There is a bit more to it than that. If you go that route you need to look at a workshop manual and a good exploded diagram. Not difficult.

tx again - we DO tend to be optimistic and as there no findable and proper cross-sections and only some partial explosion drawings it's just a lot of guess-work! sandy - will be adding some grease! and'll give the surface in question a tiny bit of 300 scotchbrite!
