.....removing the differential for the first time earlier this evening. At least I can :lol: about it now! I'm really looking forward to refitting it.

Once you have worked out which side it comes out through the rest is easy. At least you don't have to hold up whilst bolting it in, Colin thoughtfully provided a shelf for it to rest on :-)

When fitting the Important thing is that the nose of the diff goes in last.

you'll sure :lol: in retrospect when thinking about removing the diff after you have put it back in place...

Malcolm,
I did mine earlier this year. I fixed up a plywood ramp to line up flush with top surface of the chassis plate. Then with a rope tied to the diff. and round something at the other side, back to me and once round the axle stand, I could move it into position little by little and take up the slack on the rope to hold it.
This meant that I could do it single handed without lifting and take my time.
It's the way the Egyptians did things, but without the team of horses.

Well, a bit of muscle provided by my daughter's fianc?, a small trim of metal off the underside of the diff nose and the flange and it slotted virtually straight in. :D
