Gear box rubber mount

Re-fitting my gearbox today and noticed that the gearbox rubber mount bush that is fastened via one bolt to the cast boss on the underside of the gearbox can be fitted back to front ie which way is the rubber mount fitted as the back and the front of the rubber bush are different heights and the front and back of the bush has marginally thicker rubber.
I have looked in the many manuals , books , Brian Buckland's bible etc but this issue is not covered.
Does it matter which way round the bush is fitted , does the bush have a front and a back position?
Thanks , Greg.
