Anyone got any bright ideas for replacing this cup shaped bush that is now falling apart?
All I can think of is trying to find a toy ball of the same diameter and cutting to size
Bit of a long shot tho'.

The gear lever assembly must be off something standard of the period, I have never research what car but someone may know. There should be also levers available from the Elites and Eclats that used this box also from the people who dismantle these cars

Salut
Yes, Escort/Ford(Type 9?) or something like that. They come up on eBay quite often and the complete lever is available from PM and other classic Ford vendors. Don't know if spare parts are available.

OK as I thought .you are going to have a right job pulling it apart, unless you've already tried and the pressed-on bush is moving?
Mine has been " Bastardised" and is easy to dissemble
If you can get the rubber bush off I can send you the cup washer you need.

John,
Having had a good look at the gear lever assembly, I see what you mean.
The anti vibration joint looks a bit like a metalastic bush.
I could burn it out and on reassembly bond it back in with Flexane moulding rubber, but at ?50 plus for the kit, seems uneconomical.
I've ordered the suggested Elite lever from Lotus bits, very helpful people, and thank you Spyderfan, which should do the trick.
Thanks John for your offer and assistance.
I'll post again and report when the lever arrives!

Lever arrived yesterday from Lotus bits. The chrome has a few marks and the top of the rubber boot has a small tear, fortunately horizontal so some super glue should fix it.
Now I'll see how the old one comes apart and if it can be done without destruction I may combine the best of both.
I'll report back.
