Motor Mount Muddle

I am trying to put the engine/gearbox back in my '69 +2 - but please remember I am not the one who took it apart.
How do the motor mounts go on the frame flanges? Seems like a simple question, I assumed the mount went on the front of the flange as the rear of the flange has raised a lip on it. I have the lump in that position, but this can't be right - the sump interferes with the front chassis crossmember slightly, and the transmission mounts need the lump to go back about another inch.
Do the mounts go on the rear of the chassis flanges, with some kind of spacers to clear the lip?
I've been combing parts manuals, shop manual, every picture I can find of an engine bay as well as the Twink bible but it seems nobody bothers to show something so simple.
Help the poor newbie?

Looks like I was doing everything right, and it's in. I was just surprised by the tight clearance to the front frame crossmember, and you have to preload the mounts a bit to get the transmission mount lined up.
Sorry for the newbie paranoia, it just didn't look quite right to me going in.
And yes, galwaylotus, thank you, it is indeed a beautiful corner of the world!
