Transmission Rear Oil Seal Replacement

I have the engine and transmission out of my S1 Elan and plan on replacing transmission rear seal. Is there a recommended way of doing this or does everyone just use a screw drive and a big hammer?

I use a seal removal hook to pry it out but a large screw driver will do the same job. I tap the new one into place with a block of wood and a hammer.
