Speedo drive - how tight should it fit?

PostPost by: Johnfm » Wed Oct 02, 2013 12:38 am

Mine looks to have some slight weeping - and moves about a bit if I grab it (not while driving, obviously!).

How secure should it be? If there is any play, do I need to remove, replace oil seal (I assume there is one) and replace it?

You may need to re- bend the fork a little to hold it firmly. You may also need an additional fibre washer under the screw on portion to clamp that firmly. Use a little sealant on all the faces that clamp together and make sure the O ring is OK on the section that fits into the gearbox.

So it should be 'solid' rather than loose and easily moveable by hand.

Thanks Rohan.
