No Sir. You will need to remove the engine. Or you could remove the engine and box together. never done this on a car with the spaceframe type spider chassis but have done a few times with the Spyder Lotus copy with the tube type front X member. Not difficult at all.
Probably quicker too. Check to see what else needs doing whilst it is out.

Bob, this post might be helpful. Mine is a Spyder space frame with an MT75, so a bit different than stock four speed. It was the first time I had done it, so made up a bit of a summary.

I did the job by myself. Biggest difficulty was putting it back in and avoiding the body at the front of the engine bay.
Definitely pull the engine and transmission together.
