Gearbox Baulk rings

For the 3rd/4th hub I had an early hub where the shaft splines were wrong and a later one where the dog teeth weren't cut properly. I ended up going to a shop and sorting through the stock

Early baulk rings are expensive late ones are cheap.... If you can get them!

Hi,
Now for plan "B" came across a 72 + 2 gear box , 250 euros, he said he had a look in it, said it looks good, its got a 3.9 1st gear. Hope I haven't done a boo boo ? I suppose time will tell, not getting it till early SEP.

Are you sure a standard Elan with the 2000E gearbox has a 1st gear ratio of 2.97......3.9 would be very low and not suitable for an Elan.

Rang himself this evening to confirm if its 3.9 or 2.9 he said he told me the wrong ratio, it is 2.9.
