Installation of Tonneau- Alterations Required

PostPost by: nico506 » Tue Jul 17, 2012 8:36 am

Hi All,
Long time no post - work and no sunshine making it problematic using the car. I have a Lotus Elan S3 DHC that I have restored and fully fitted a Mohair Hood successfully ( I know its not correct but looks and fits better than Vynyl

I have a sfatey systems rollover hoops fitted with diagonal crossover bars and have a new tonneau cover that I would like to fit and fit it so the trim is adapted so that the cover wraps around the bars using velcro tape fittings.

Has anyone had a go at doing this themslelves and is it a realistic DIY proposition as the end result is key to it looking good when fitted.

I am open to ideas and suggestions - I have seen one fitted by people such as Don hoods in Birmingham - but at the moment a little short of cash - so any help on this appreciated

Thanks in advance for help on this as this saves me having to keep removing and refitting the hood each time it stops raining !!

Cheers

I think that if you didn`t have it done professionally you`d regret it forever. If you can`t stretch to that I`d just put the hood up instead, it only takes a minute longer.

They may have just had an off day but I'd read this thread before you commit to a company you may have in mind
